*Aaron and I went to see the Rangers and the Mariners play Friday night in Arlington. We had fantastic seats: front row on the third base line. There's nothing like being at a major league game. I should go more often. I should also live closer than 5 hours away from the stadium. We drove back after the game. It was late. Red Bull was consumed.
*In case you didn't know, Gmail is cool. I love the way it sorts mail.
*I can't believe September is almost over. Before you know it, the Holidays will be here. I'm sure retailers are dusting off their Christmas decor waiting for midnight on October 31. I'm already making a mental list of gifts I can buy. Hopefully, I will actually purchase some before the end of October.
I find it odd that the low-carb diet craze is to blame for the bankruptcy of the makers of Twinkies and Ring Dings, since low fat and low calorie diet fads didn't seem to phase them. Does it take a dietician to realize that the carbs are not the only reason Twinkies are bad for you?
Seriously: Is the new picture on the side okay or is creepy?
(It's okay. You can tell me if you don't like it.)
Living in a house full of girls has its funny moment. This is a conversation from last night as all 4 of us were trying to hang a large shelf on the wall.
Roommate 1 - "We need longer screws, but not as long as the other ones we have."
Roommate 2 - "Those are the only two lengths they have."
Roommate 1 - "Did you go to an actual hardware store or did you go to Target?"
*pause*
Roommate 2 (sheepishly) - "Target"
::Napoleon Dynamite is hilarious. While I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone because it requires a (really) bizarre sense of humor to truly enjoy it, I must say, I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time. In fact, I've found myself laughing out loud for the past few days just thinking about it::
::Going on vacation is a great way to remind yourself of the things you like about home::
::That's not to say I didn't have a great vacation. I did. I absolutely did::
::No matter what you might hear, coffee is not really a sleep-alternative::
*I hate to see what Google does with that title
Amy sent me a link for Date to Save, a site with advice on missionary dating.
Here are a few tips for effective missionary dating:
1. If he tells your that you are hot...
Tell him God made you hot.
2. If he wants to hold your hand...
Give him a Bible.
3. If he tries to get closer...
Tell him the Holy Spirit is wooing him.
Is she joking? I'd like to think she is, but I've seen enough evangelical craziness that it's hard to tell.
I don't know what my obsession is with winning Diet Coke. I guess, since I rarely win anything, I feel like a one in twelve chance could really pay off for me. Now that I'm actually typing this out, I guess I have won one DC this summer and I've probably bought around twelve. But that's not the point.
Yesterday, I bought my Diet Coke, opened it, and was pretty dissappointed that I didn't win. I never win anything...until now. I won a digital camera yesterday! There's a contest at work involving lots of cool prizes...some for sales, some for referrals, some random drawings and several other categories. I won one of the random drawings and received an Olympus D-540 Zoom. I haven't played with it yet, but I've been wanting a digital camera but not wanting to buy one. Problem solved.
I'm also now a proud user of Gmail thanks to Jessie. I haven't really used it yet, but I'm looking forward to phasing out my hotmail account. Hopefully, gmail's anti-spam system works well. The address is sarahchristin{at}gmail{dot}com. (I know...not very creative).
If anyone else would like to give me anything for free, let me know and I'll send you my address.
I'm getting ready to head out to the great white north on Saturday. (Hopefully, it will not actually be white, but it's always a possibility.) I've been really tense this week, trying to think of all the things I need to have done before I leave for 11 days. I'm taking this economics class and I have to take the midterm before I leave (which basically means I have to take it tomorrow) and I'm not ready for it. I also had my first class in Money and Banking last night, so I'll be taking a load of homework with me for some fun airplane reading. I also had another car incident last night, so I now have a new battery, which will hopefully get me to Dallas on Friday. (And thanks again, Aaron and Robbie for fixing it for me.)
I made a list of all the things I need to pack, so now the task is to figure out how to fit it all into my suitcases. I just can't pack fewer than 6 pairs of shoes. It's against my nature.
I'm really looking forward to the time off and a chance to hang out with old friends, re-stomp my old stomping ground, and enjoy some good old-fashioned R & R.
