Stop buying ultra low rise jeans! Aren't we, as a culture, beyond this unflattering trend? If you are a model, they probably look good on you. If you weigh less than 100 pounds, they might look good on you. Other than that: QUIT IT. If you don't have a full length mirror, just go out in public somewhere (anywhere) and see how bad all the other girls look in them, and chances are, you look just as bad. Your stomach doesn't look any better bulging out the top of your jeans than anyone else's does (I won't even start on the rear-view). I'm not saying we need to go back to waistbands up to the rib cage (and please no pleated fronts) but can we have some moderation, please? Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Christin
It's a rare day when the big belly looks good.

Posted by: merry_maiden at June 30, 2005 06:53 AMI completely agree. Maybe if women stopped buying the ulta low rise jeans, they would start making more of the normal "just below the waist" style that is flattering to more figures. I have the toughest time finding them at lots of stores!
Posted by: kristen at June 30, 2005 02:30 PMI can't tell you how many times my wife and I have echoed the same thought! There are those that can(even if they shouldn't) wear certain clothes that are somewhat revealing and then there are those that CAN'T wear those clothes. I work at a pediatrician's office and the moms come in all the time wearing clothes that they CAN'T. I feel embarassed for them. I mean really, use some good sense.
Posted by: SonofThunder at June 30, 2005 02:49 PMI think the fact that ultra low rise jeans are all you can find in many stores, so people who aren't really wanting them, buy them anyway, creates a false sense of demand, so the stores keep on stocking them and, well, here we are 5 years into this trend and it's one big vicious circle.
Posted by: Christin at June 30, 2005 03:32 PMMaybe some people like the plummer look. Did you ever think about their feelings?
Posted by: Deacon Blues at July 2, 2005 04:05 PMOr... if you've got to have your low-riders, might I suggest a shirt that shows none of that pooching belly. I mean, sure, it's funny and all, but I suspect most girls aren't intending to go for clownish.
Posted by: The Dane at July 5, 2005 11:08 AMI have some American Eagle Men's low rise jeans! Yeah... It goes well with my washboard abs, bleached hair, and thick SoCal accent. All of which I don't have. Yet...
:P
