I was digging through my archives for something and I found this helpful information about June, which I'm now adding even more helpful holidays to. We're almost half way through the month already, but ti's still good to know:
June 2 - Amy's Birthday. Also Jerry "The Beav" Mathers' birthday
June 3 - repeat day
June 3 - repeat day
June 4 - Old Maid's Day - I celebrated by staying home most of the day cleaning house and watching a movie. (I went out later, though)
June 5 - Josh and Lacey's anniversary; Marky Mark, Kenny G and Brian McKnight all share this birthday. Creepy, huh?
June 6 - Staci Keanan's birthday (10 points for anyone who knows who Staci Keanan is without Googling it)
June 8 - Name Your Poison Day; Joan Rivers will be celebrating her 72nd birthday. Her nose will be celebrating its 5th.
June 14 - not only is it Flag Day, it's also "Pop Goes the Weasel" Day, which could get really annoying
June 18 - International Panic Day (I'm getting freaked out in anticipation)
June 19 - Father's Day and World Sauntering Day
June 21- first day of summer
June 23 - National Pink Day; Johannes Gutenberg would have been six hundred and five
June 24 - Midsummer's Day, followed immediately by Midsummer's Night
June 25 - only six more shopping months until Christmas!
June 30 - Superman's Birthday (conflicting information - some say it's June 30th, other's say it's Feb. 29th. All I know is not to step on his cape.)
June is also:
*Adopt-A-Cat Month (not that anything could ever make me adopt a cat)
*Candy Month (mmmm. Candy.)
*Dairy Month (Got milk?)
*Drive Safe Month (The cops here are celebrating this for sure. Click it or ticket, baby.)
*Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month (I have a fridge full of veggies to prove it.)
*Iced Tea Month (What month isn't iced tea month in Louisiana?)
*People Skills Month (or as I like to call it, "People Skillz Month" -- I like to stay hip with the kids, you know.)
*Rose Month (hint, hint)
*Turkey Lovers Month (You would think that would be November, wouldn't you? Well, you'd be wrong.)
*Accordian Awareness Month (Oh, I'm aware.)
Other Weekly Observances:
Week 1 -
Gay Pride Week (Isn't it always Gay Pride Week?)
Week 2 -
Little League Baseball Week (yea! baseball!)
Meet a Mate Week (Look out, boys!)
Week 3 -
Hermit Week (Talk about boring parties!)
Take Your Pet to Work Week (What?)
Week 4 -
Carpenter Ant Awareness Week (Why do they get a week?)
So if anyone wants to have a party, we've got plenty of reasons this month. Call me. I'll bring the carpenter ants.
Posted by christin at June 10, 2005 08:49 AM | TrackBackwell,well... I could use a party. You coming down anytime this month?
And as far as Turkey Lover's Month goes... this month certainly would work. I'd figure the PETA people out there started this one; they certainly wouldn't want to hurt Turkeys, much less eat them. As for me, if I had to choose, it would still be November... especially as that's Daniel Alders Month (i.e. my birthday).
so yea... let's party, even though nuthin's happnin today.
Posted by: Daniel at June 10, 2005 03:04 PMStaci Keanan - not to be confused with Stacy Keach(who, by the way, also shares my birthday)- was the star of My Two Dads. Not that I should know that because I wasn't allowed to watch it. You know what two dads and no mom means...even though that wasn't the premise of the show, mom and dad thought that it was and so that was that. She also later starred in Step by Step. I always wanted her hair.
Posted by: Amy at June 10, 2005 03:35 PMI'm going to try to make it down there next weekend, Daniel.
Amy gets 10 points. I knew you would know who she was. We used to watch My Two Dads all the time.
Posted by: Christin at June 10, 2005 04:26 PMAmy beat me to it...I had a stupid 10-11-12 yr-old celeb-crush on Staci Keanan when she played Dana on Step by Step....and on the girl who played her stepsister Al (but I don't know her name). I used to catch some of My Two Dads as well. I still remember the episode where "the young irresponsible dad" faked his death and lay in state in a funeral home while he heard all the stuff people said about him after he "died"
Posted by: brad at June 10, 2005 04:40 PMHEY! what about June 9th being my birthday!
Posted by: JosiahQ at June 12, 2005 10:13 AMYou can add June 27th, my birthday, to your list.
It is also Pastor Wilkin's b-day also.
Oh! On the 20th Bart starts his new job at FedEx!
Also, June 14th is the Greydanus Aniversary.
Posted by: Mike Aman at June 12, 2005 10:47 PMBrad - you can still have 10 points - just for remembering particular episodes of My Two Dads.
Josiah - I can't believe I forgot your birthday AGAIN!
Jen - I have your birthday on my calendar at home, I just couldn't remember it for the list. Are we going to have a party, or what? That's awesome that Bart got on at FedEx. Congratulations!
Lots of anniversaries this month, Mike: Annie & Jonathan M., Ed & Heidi, Matt & Holly, etc, etc.
I suppose June is a popular wedding month. I'm a clod sometimes.
Posted by: Mike Aman at June 14, 2005 12:59 PMMike, I didn't mean to make you feel like a clod. I never remember people's anniversaries, I just happened to be talking about it earlier this week and was reminded af all the aforementioned anniversaries.
Posted by: Christin at June 14, 2005 01:23 PMI wasn't admitting the clod thing from your earlier response, it's just I looked and noticed that I wrote my response as if the G's were the only anniversary in June. I was just so proud of myself for remembering a date important to someone else.
Posted by: Mike Aman at June 14, 2005 03:30 PMJune 7th was my 3rd anniversary. You can add that to your dumb list.
Posted by: Deacon Blues at June 15, 2005 02:37 AMi for one love the list. because i'm on it. come visit christin! we'll take you to bass pro. i know how much you love fishing.
Posted by: UJ at June 15, 2005 12:10 PMHey you forgot "Juneteenth". I think that’s how you spell this "holiday". Supposably it’s the day that all the slaves were "officially" given there freedom and is celebrated either this Saturday or next Saturday with all the brothers in the Hi-Ouse........word.
Posted by: Lacey at June 18, 2005 11:39 AMDeacon - I would've put you on the list if you hadn't called it dumb. Big jerk.
Josh - Yesterday, I came within 20 feet of the Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City. That's as close as I ever intend to get. I am, however, trying to think of a weekend I can come visit Springfield.
Lacey - I thought Juneteenth was just a Texas holiday. I wasn't sure if everyone else would know what it was. (...as if everyone else would know what "Name Your Poison Day" was).
