I'm More Tired Than a You-Know-What in a You-Know-What

You know that song from the late 80s or early 90s "Run Away Train"? (I want to say it's by Soul Asylum - I'm not sure because I was always too busy crying through the video to pay attention to who it was) - anyway - there's that line in it, "so tired that I couldn't even sleep." That's me right now. (You can tell I'm delirious, can't you?) I get off work, I'm exhausted, but I drag myself to the gym anyway and by the time I'm done there, I can't sleep. If I could break the cycle, I could get up early and go to the gym which would probably solve the problem, but I just can't drag myself out of bed at 5 am.
The new job is still going well, but I'm working a lot (which is fine), but I feel it catching up to me today. It's amazing how days of pouring over files at your desk can be just as physically tiring as a double shift of waiting tables at a busy restaurant. The past couple of days have been extra long, with business lunches and dinners on top of the regular job. It's a temporary thing, but draining none-the-less.
The lack of sleep has the added effect of making me clumsy (not that I'm Miss Graceful usually). In addition to the bruises on my knee and elbow from who-knows-what, tonight, I dropped something, bent down to pick it up and...yada, yada, yada...I'll be lucky if I don't have a black eye tomorrow. I think I'll be able to disguise it if I need to.
I did have a fun trip to Nacogdoches last week and I'm looking forward to a mini-vacation 2 weeks from now - I'm driving to Chattanooga to visit O&Co - long drive/short visit, but should be fun. It's good to mix things up every now and then, ya know?

Hi,
Just stopped by to see your blog. NSA grad hunh? I probably knew you, but I can't remember anyone. I was one of "those U of I guys" that attended Christ Church for 4ish years...

Peace

Yeah, that song was like '92 or '93. Had all the real missing children posters they'd flash while the lead singer, known to have not washed his hair in 2 years so he had natural dreadlocks, played on the train tracks. It was a sad video, but I've had that song stuck in my head lately. Weird.

Get some sleep!

I know what you mean about not wanting to get up
at 5:00 in the morning. I did it for a semester in school and it was hard. (8:00 classes don't you love'em) If you get past the first week making yourself do it it'll get easier. You just have to make yourself do it for that week and then you'll find yourself waking up right before the alarm clock goes off. BTW if your gym opens at 6:00 make sure you're there a little before it opens because you'll have to wait in line for a machine.

What's a "you-know-what"?

If you don't know, I'm not tellin'.

I tried to call you three or four times yesterday...I wanted to see if you want to do lunch tomorrow perhaps. Call me.

Gotta love Soul Asylum, at least their two hits ("Run Away Train" and "Misery") - 'cause who's ever heard their other stuff?

I'm sorry to say I actually owned a Soul Asylum album when I was in high school. Like most of my CDs, it dissappeared. Unlike most of my CDs, I wasn't sorry to discover it missing.
